In Sanskrit, it is termed as Amlika, Chincha, Chukra, Chinchika, Dantshata, and Tintidi. Other regional names of this natural herb are: Tentul or Nuli in Bengali, Aambli in Gujarati, Hunse or Amlike in Kannada, Valanpuli, valimpulli in Malayalam, Chinch in Marathi, Imli in Punjabi & Pahari, Chinta or Amleka in Telugu, Amalkam, Puli in Tamil and Tentuli in Uria.

Chemical Composition

Tamarind fruits (tart-fruit) contain starch, tartaric acid, pectin, and melic acid. Its seeds are rich in protein, fat, carbohydrates, and minerals. Also, leaves, bark, and flowers have useful ingredients like hordinin, galactose, glycoside, zylose, citric acid, melic acid, and seponeratin, etc.

Headache

1. To cure Headaches, soak some Imli in water for 3-4 hours and then chafe well. Filter it and mix some loaf sugar into it. Now use it to cure headaches due to heat stroke or hotness.

2. In Mouth Ulcers treatment, the above-prepared Tamarind water is also very beneficial. Drinking it or gargling is the best choice. Tamarind has been traditionally used as a natural remedy for mouth ulcers in some cultures. The pulp of the tamarind fruit is believed to have anti-inflammatory properties and can be used as a natural remedy for mouth ulcers. The pulp can be applied directly to the affected area or mixed with water to create a paste.

Cold

3. In the Primary stages of Cold, drinking the leaf’s juice is also very useful. The pulp of the tamarind fruit is believed to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and can be used to make a hot tea to alleviate the symptoms of colds and flu. Throat Inflammation

4. To cure Throat Inflammation, its use is another good choice. Boil about 10 gm Imli in one liter of water till the solution remain half. After cooling, add about 10 ml Gulab-Jal to it and gargle with this mixture to get relief from the throat disorder. The pulp of the tamarind fruit has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which can help in reducing the inflammation and pain associated with a sore throat. The pulp can be mixed with water and honey to make a drink that can be taken to alleviate the symptoms of sore throat.

5. In the treatment of Heart Burning, the syrup or sherbert of Imli has also great usefulness. For better results, add some sugar candy to it.

Excessive Urination

6. In the case of Excessive Urination, soak about 15 gm of Tamarind seeds in water during the Daytime, and at the night, remove the outer peel of the Seeds. Now grind the inner white kernels of Seeds and take it with cow milk to cure this urinary disease.

Treat Blood Piles

7. To cure Bloody Piles, the use of flower juice is also useful. Take 5-10 ml juice, thrice a day to get rid of the pile’s problem. The pulp of the tamarind fruit is believed to have anti-inflammatory properties and can be used as a natural remedy for piles. The pulp can be applied directly to the affected area or mixed with water to create a paste. Tamarind can also be consumed in the form of juice or a decoction to help soothe piles and reduce inflammation.

Spraining

8. In the case of Spraining (Moch Aana in Hindi), prepare the paste of its leaves and apply the lukewarm paste to the affected joints.

PE Treatment

9. To cure PE (Premature ejaculation) disorders, the use of seeds is most beneficial. Soak the seeds in the water for 3-4 days, then remove the outer peel. Take the inner white part and dry them. Now prepare the fine powder and take daily one spoon with milk to treat semen disorders.  You can also prepare small pills of this powder with double the amount of Jaggery (Gurr in Hindi). Using daily one pill is also another good alternative for treating PE problems.

11. It is another best herb for diabetes. Take about 100 gm seeds and soak them in 200 ml milk for three days. After three days, remove the peels of the seeds and grind them with water. Finally, use about 5ml of it with milk, twice a day. Try this remedy for some days to treat sugar.

13. Imli water also utilizes to treat unconsciousness and fever due to Pitta Dosha. To lower the body temperature, take the cold Tamarind fruits water and soak a small neat cloth into it. Now put this cloth on the forehead to treat high fever.

Ingredients:

  • Tamarind- 100 gm
  • Onion- Medium Sized
  • Sugar- 2 big spoon
  • Salt- 1 teaspoon
  • Mint- 5-10 green leaves
  • Green Coriander- 5-10 gm
  • Green Chili- 1-2 pieces

Soak some Imli in the water of about 300ml for 3-4 hours. Now masquerade it properly and filter the solution. Add Salt, and Sugar to it as per taste to lower the sourness. Now add Onion (Small pieces fine cut) and green mint paste. Also, add green coriander and green chili for flavor. Mix all ingredients properly and enjoy this sour-sweet healthy dish.
