Oyster has great importance in the Ayurveda health care system and has many benefits.

Pearl Oyster is also popular by the Hindi name Shukti (शुक्ति) in India. Indian ancient texts like Charak and Sushrut codex describe the importance of pearl oysters in many ayurvedic drug combinations.

Ashtangahridayasamhita and Sangrah also contain a combination of Oyster-made drugs that are useful in Pricking, Pyrosis, Duodenum, and many other disorders.

Old Rasa texts like Rasarnav and Rasaratnakar Shukla Varga provide you with detailed information about Oyster. After the 11 Century, all Rasa Granth’s Sudha Varga mentions the Conch shell and Oyster (Shankh-Shukti).
It is classified into two forms: Pearl Oyster and normal Water Oyster.

Raw Oyster is not directly used for medical purposes in health care treatment. Oyster posterior surface of water creature mollusk, that living inside the Oysters. Some Oyster contains natural pearl inside. The Oyster’s posterior part is covered with a moss surface that converts into grey and black color when dry. The inner part of Oysters is of white and rainbow color divisions. Pearl-containing oysters are of bright color than normal oysters.

Oyster purification is necessary before medicinal uses. So in Ayurveda, diaphoresis sweating techniques are used for Oyster purification. Pearl Oysters is also used in form of Paste (Pishti) and Ash (Bhasma) in Ayurvedic medicines. To make a paste of Pearl Oyster, prepare the fine powder and cream it up with rose water for three days. Finally, when dry, then again make powder to use.
Hence to prepare Oyster Ash, first prepare the fine powder of Oysters with Aloe Vera extract. Using some ayurvedic techniques, we get white color Oyster Ash i.e. alkaline. There are many benefits of Pearl Oyster in Ayurveda, and you should have to use this natural substance.

Oyster Ash best uses in fever, breathing, heart diseases, pricking, cancer, pyrosis, duodenum, spleen, celipathy, arthritis,  Urine blood sugar, and many other disorders.

A low dose of Oyster Ash 2-4 Ratti is used with honey, milk, Purified butter (Ghee), and other prescribed decoctions.
